STUDS

Alexy Hot Rod Lincoln of Aksum is a red male Aby. He is an excellent example of this new sex-linked red color. Linc is one of those "perfect Abys" with a totally fearless, extremely friendly personality and very nice conformation. |
Alexy Hot Rod Lincoln of Aksum
Linc is Aksum's first in-house stud and also the first foundation stud in our sex-linked red breeding program. He was born on May 31, 2008. His color is (sex-linked) Red with Chocolate and carrying the Dilute factor.
We asked Bruce Alexy for a stud and queen pair that would produce the very rare cream females, and Linc is the stud boy we took home at four months old on October 2, 2008.
He will pair up with our new blue torbie female Alexy Blue Cream Sky of Aksum aka "Sky" (who we also took home on October 2nd) to produce several different possible colors, including the extremely rare and beautiful creams. Photo taken by Helmi Flick on July 11, 2009
We expect the first litter from Linc and Sky sometime in the first half of 2010. The coat colors of their kittens could be any of the 14 non-silver Aby colors since Linc's underlying "black" color is chocolate. Linc's father and grandfather are chocolate also.
DNA testing from UC Davis confirmed December 5, 2008 that Linc is chocolate carrying cinnamon and dilute. UC Davis also confirmed Linc is PK Def and PRA negative. |

Alexy Temur Khan of Aksum is a gorgeous chocolate male. His sweet, beautiful face, nicely balanced head and body, and big well-placed ears are all excellent Abyssinian traits that we look forward to seeing in future generations here at Aksum. |
Alexy Temur Khan of Aksum
Temur is Aksum's second in-house stud and also the first foundation stud in our chocolate breeding program. He was born on March 2, 2009. He is a beautiful chocolate male.
Temur's handsome sire, Alexy Kubla Khan, is also the father of our red and chocolate stud Alexy Hot Rod Lincoln of Aksum. Temur's mother, Alexy Pretty Woman, is one of the larger Alexy Abyssinians queens and one of the most beautiful.

Temur is already a lot larger than any of Candy's babies, so we expect him to be a big, sweet boy. Just look at the size of those paws!
We expect the first litter from Temur and Dancer in Spring of 2010. The colors of their kittens can be chocolate or cinnamon, and possibly the dilutes of those, lilac and fawn, if they both carry the dilute gene. |

Aksum Abyssinians is starting up our cattery in 2008-2009 by showing and carefully choosing only the best Abys that have the conformation and characteristics we are looking for as our foundation cats. We have spoken with a few top Aby breeders regarding stud cats and some queens.
We now have our first in-house foundation stud with our red boy Linc and a sweet blue torbie female named Alexy Blue Cream Sky of Aksum who will produce a wide variety of colors together starting with Sky's first litter, due in 2010.
We plan to breed Dancer with our newest addition to Aksum Abyssinians, Alexy Temur Khan of Aksum. Temur is a male chocolate Aby and has recently joined us as our newest stud boy. He made his show debut at the Southeast Regional show in July with Dancer and her littermate Smoky. He is Linc's half brother (same sire). We are quite delighted with him!
Meanwhile, we are working with our first choice of Aby breeder, Alexy Abyssinians, and are using their studs for breeding to Rose and Candy. We appreciate the wonderful personalities and sweet looks of the Alexy Abys as well as their nicely ticked clear coats. We also enjoy the new Aby colors, which Alexy specializes in. It's also quite handy that Alexy is close by in North Carolina.
Together, Aksum and Alexy co-owned the second Chocolate Abyssinian ever to attain the Quad Grand Champion title, Alexy Braeside Candytuft of Aksum and her cinnamon torbie sister Alexy Gypsy Rose of Aksum.

Tazkatz Traveling Man of Alexy

For our first litters of kittens with Rose and Candy, we will be using Alexy's Traveler as a stud, a Ruddy carrying Cinnamon and Dilute. Traveler has beautiful rich color from traditional American Aby Van Dyke lines, nice type, and a loving personality to pass on to his kittens. We will probably use Alexy's stud cats from time to time in the future as well. Traveler is also Sky, Fire, Smoky and Dancer's father.
